Angel Reese thrilled Hailey Van Lith drafted by Sky with No. 11 pick

8 months agoStaff Report

Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith are reunited, and evidently, it feels so good.

Reese, the Chicago Sky’s breakout star as a rookie last season, celebrated Monday night when the team picked guard Hailey Van Lith, her former LSU teammate, No. 11 overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft.

Reese’s initial reaction needed just three words. Well, one word but repeated three times to highlight her excitement.

She followed with somewhat of a vow about her and Van Lith again being teammates.

“We ain’t do it right the first time” refers to Reese and Van Lith’s lone season together at LSU, which opened the 2023-24 preseason ranked No. 1 in the nation but finished 31-6 and lost to Caitlin Clark and Iowa 94-87 in the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight.

That was Reese’s final collegiate game, but Van Lith transferred to TCU, where she averaged 17.9 points, 5.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game as the Horned Frogs went 34-4 and reached the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight.

Reese’s post-draft praise for Van Lith didn’t end there. When Las Vegas Ace star Chelsea Gray, the No. 11 pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft, tweeted that people shouldn’t sleep on a player selected in that slot, Reese concurred.

If Reese and the Sky have their way, Van Lith’s addition will mean big things – and more wins – in Chicago this coming season.

Reese also acknowledged the Sky’s three other draft picks to the team with welcome tweets of their own.

The vibes are high in Skytown.
