The former Chicago Bears head coach in Matt Eberflus has found his new home as he will be heading back to the Dallas Cowboys as their defensive coordinator. Eberflus spent 2011-2017 in Dallas as their linebackers coach and pass game coordinator.

Eberflus was fired from Chicago during the middle of the 2024 season after going 14-32 over 3 seasons with the Bears. When Eberflus was the defensive playcaller in Chicago, the Bears’ defense ranked in the top half of the NFL, and that trend matches his earlier days when he was the defensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts from 2018-2021.

This hiring is the one of the firsts for new Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
