Injury forces Mike Tauchman out of Monday’s game

The injury bug is not only limited to Cubs pitchers.
Outfielder/DH Mike Tauchman was forced out of Monday’s game early due to an injury. The Cubs later announced he was removed with left groin tightness.
Tauchman – who drew the start at designated hitter and in the leadoff spot – notched the Cubs’ first hit in the 3rd inning but came up limping and in visible pain after beating out the infield single. He immediately motioned for the Cubs dugout.
A Cubs trainer and manager Craig Counsell came out for a brief chat with Tauchman before the veteran left the game. Patrick Wisdom entered the game as a pinch-runner and assumed the role as the Cubs’ DH.
Tauchman, 33, has played in 66 of the Cubs’ 73 games this season, rotating between each of the 3 outfield spots as well as DH.
He is hitting .256/.354/.379 (.733 OPS) on the season and leads the team in OBP and runs scored, is 2nd in hits and 4th in OPS.
