Rizzo helps virtual Cubs with 2 monster home runs to take series against the Mets

4 years agoStaff Report

In today’s virtual rubber game against the Mets, Tyler Chatwood took the mound. He struggled to get out of the 4th inning, but the Cubs bats picked it up.

Anthony Rizzo played hero with the long ball, as he crushed 2 home runs onto Sheffield, lifting the Cubs to a 10-6 victory over the Mets. Happ and Heyward homered in the game and Alec Mills picked up his 8th win on the season. The virtual Cubs improved to 41-34.

Here’s a weekly recap on what the virtual Cubs have done in our MLB The Show 20 season simulation in the last week:

The Cubs had a two-game series with the Cardinals in London and were swept by the Redbirds across the pond. Following the London series, the Cubs came home for a three-game series against the Mets.

After losing the first game of the series against the Mets, the Cubs turned to Jon Lester to stop the three-game losing streak. The Cubs won the second game of the series 8-0 over the Mets. Lester was superb pitching a 1-hit shutout and striking out 7 in his outing. Ian Happ, Kyle Schwarber and Javier Báez all homered in the Cubs victory.
