Saturday was quite the milestone day in the Swanson household

Not many families would have had a better day collectively than the Swansons.
Early on Saturday, Mallory Swanson scored the game-winning goal that gave Team USA a Gold Medal in women’s soccer — their first in 12 years. She also collected her 100th cap — appearance — with the national team in the Gold Medal match.

Saturday night, Mallory’s husband, Dansby, collected his 1,000th career hit, a 6th inning single to center field in the Cubs’ 3-1 win over the White Sox. He picked up hit no. 1,001 a pair of innings later on an infield single.
“Good day for the Swanson family, right?” Nico Hoerner said. “All of us were watching the soccer game this morning, and Dansby getting his 1,000th [hit] today. Just really cool stuff and he’s very humble about those things, but it’s a big deal.
“It’s a lot of baseball. And doing that playing the hardest position on the field, I think it’s awesome, and hopefully he gets 1000 more.”
Dansby Swanson’s accomplishment — while not an Olympic medal — is no walk in the park, either. He’s one of 8 active shortstops to have eclipsed the mark.
“That’s quite a milestone,” Justin Steele said. “It’s a great career he’s had, and he’s got so much more under the hood. So, hats off to him, congratulations to him.
“And then, obviously, congratulations to his wife, winning Gold today, all that stuff, that’s just amazing. It’s a great day in that household, for sure.”
