Virtual Cubs defense keeps off Phillies

4 years agoStaff Report

It was a pitching battle between the Cubs and the Phillies, but Chicago’s bats came in late to give the Cubs a 2-0 win over Philadelphia in our 2020 season simulation.

Javier Báez got the Cubs going with a solo shot in the 4th inning to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead. Willson Contreras pushed across the second and final run with an RBI in the 6th inning.

Jon Lester earned the win, his 5th of the year. He gave up only 4 hits and put up 5 strikeouts in 8 innings of work. The Cubs now have a record of 38-31. They look to continue their series against the Phillies. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. on our Facebook page.
