Which Cubs prospect can make an impact in 2020?

4 years agoStaff Report

With the MLB Draft here, Bruce Levine, Taylor McGregor and Jim Deshaies joined Cole Wright on Cubs 360 to discuss some of the newest Cubs prospects and who could have a stellar performance in 2020.

Pitcher Brailyn Marquez was the first option for McGregor.

“[The scouts] love his elite fastball. His primary off-speed pitch is that secondary with a lot of swing-and-miss potential. I think the ability alone to be a potential impact player in the major leagues.”

Deshaies went the route of center fielder Brennen Davis.

“He’s got pop in the bat. He’s got speed. He’s going to fill out. He’s 6’4” and about 180 lbs. So, he will probably get bigger and stronger.”

Levine went behind the plate to catcher Miguel Amaya.

“He’s showing a lot of power, especially in the second half [of the season] last year. He’s got a great arm. He’s got great catchability and framework. He’s got the whole package.”
