Will the players accept the owners’ deal?

4 years agoStaff Report

Rick Sutcliffe, Len Kasper and Bruce Levine joined Cole Wright on Cubs 360 Daily, presented by Miller Lite to discuss whether or not the MLB Player’s Association will accept the MLB owners’ deal to return to baseball.

Sutcliffe compared this deal to the 1981 players’ strike.

“There are a lot of things that are in common right now as it was back then. There’s going to be a shorter season. There’s going to have to be give and take on both sides, but ultimately the goal is get back on the field. At some point, before the year is over with, we need to crown another champion.”

Levine believes that this deal should close soon but most likely not by the end of the week.

“It should be very soon. There’s not a lot of time to fool around with this. The MLB and the player’s association need to be in agreement in order to start around June 10th or the 15th at the latest to get their three weeks in and then start the baseball season by July 4th.”
