WNBA draft 2025 tracker: How Sky used first-round, second-round picks

5 days agoStaff Report

The Chicago Sky aren’t waiting around to return to their 2021 WNBA championship form. They’re making moves now.

The Sky, who finished with the league’s third-worst record (13-27) last season, acquired the No. 11 overall pick from the Minnesota Lynx in a trade Sunday, the night before the 2025 WNBA Draft. That meant Chicago owned four picks — Nos. 10 and 11 in the first round, and Nos. 16 and 22 in the second round.

Monday night’s draft was an opportunity for the Sky to rebuild their roster around young stars Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, as well as veteran newcomers Courtney Vandersloot (free agency) and Ariel Atkins (trade). The latter move cost Chicago the No. 3 pick in this year’s draft, a second-round pick in 2027 and rights to swap first-round picks in 2027. A steep price, but the Sky want to win immediately under new coach Tyler Marsh.

Read this WNBA draft tracker to see which four players the Sky drafted:
