Should Yu Darvish be the Opening Day starter?
Bruce Levine, Len Kasper and Matt Spiegel joined host Cole Wright on Cubs 360 Daily, presented by Miller Lite, to discuss whether Yu Darvish should be the Opening Day Starter once baseball resumes play.
Spiegel points out that Darvish is more than deserving to start on Opening Day.
“Yu Darvish is the active career leader in strikeouts per 9 innings. He heads the top 5 that includes Chris Sale, Steven Strasburg, Max Scherzer and Jacob DeGrom. Darvish is at the top of that. He’s one of the best in the game and certainly deserving of the Opening Day start.”
While Kasper agrees that Darvish deserves to start, Levine throws a different name into the mix.
“The Chicago Cubs have no better candidate than Alec Mills to do that at least twice a week. You’re going to look at a truncated form of starting pitcher, especially at the very beginning. Alec Mills is my Opening Day starter with Yu Darvish coming in the 2nd or 3rd innings and Mills can do it more than once.”
