First round draft pick Matt Shaw signs with Cubs per reports
Matt Shaw was selected as the 13th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft by the Cubs less than a week ago and has reportedly made it official with the organization on Friday afternoon.
Shaw and the Cubs agreed to terms on a $4,848,500 signing bonus, the full value of the 13th pick, according to Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline.

The shortstop from the University of Maryland had an exceptional final collegiate season in which he finished with a 1.142 OPS, 24 home runs, 18 stolen bases and 69 RBI and was named the Big Ten Player of the Year and a consensus All-American.
He also competed in the prestigious Cape Cod League in summer 2022 and was named the Cape Cod Summer Player of the Year after he hit .360/.432/.574 with 5 home runs and 21 stolen bases.
