My brothers and I grew up a few blocks from Wrigley Field, and all of us – but mostly my Dad – endured years of heartbreak watching the Cubs get so close, but never making it all the way. When the Cubs made the World Series in 2016, my Dad was in a wheelchair from ALS and could not make it to Chicago, but despite his being thousands of miles away in Florida, that magical season gave my Dad so much joy. The World Series win both fueled my Dad for a few more years, but also gave him reason to slow down as he had finally seen his beloved Cubbies win the championship. Submitted by Stephanie Lieber
