Top moments from Cactus League Crosstown
The White Sox topped the Cubs 6-3 in Friday’s Cactus League Crosstown matchup.
Jon Lester made his third spring start and tossed 61 pitches in 2.2 innings, striking out 6.
David Bote drove in his first run of the spring and minor-league infielder Alfonso Rivas added an RBI of his own for the North Siders.

Before the game, the Cubs also made a few cuts in big-league camp Friday, sending 11 players to the minor leagues. Of the guys on the 40-man roster, pitcher Tyson Miller and infielder/outfielder Robel García were optioned to Triple-A Iowa while pitchers Justin Steele and Manny Rodríguez were optioned to Double-A Tennessee.
The group also included seven non-roster invitees heading to minor-league camp: pitchers Jason Adam, Óscar De La Cruz, Caleb Simpson, Tyler Olson, C.D. Pelham and catcher Jhonny Pereda.
That brings the Cubs’ spring roster to 51 players, including 15 non-roster invitees.
