It’s been two days since Cubs pitcher Nick Burdi was selected from Triple-A Iowa as he joined the team in Houston. 

The Chicagoland native showed excitement to have the opportunity and live out a dream to play for the Chicago Cubs.

“I think it’s exciting. I think it’s one of those thing that you grew up watching, whether it’s the Bears, Cubs, White Sox, whoever it might be downtown. I think this is the dream,” Burdi said on Cubs Live! “For someone like myself who got to watch them on WGN everyday, and now to put on the jersey, it means a lot to myself, to my family and to a lot of people who have been on the road with me.”

Burdi posted a tweet sharing how important of a role his wife has played in his journey to play in the majors. During the interview, Burdi described his wife’s impact.

“She’s everything,” an emotional Burdi said. “It’s hard to even get word out without getting emotional. It means a lot and she’s a rock.”
