Chicagoland wholesale grocer steps up to help out a city in need

4 years agoKarli Bell

Throughout the country, there are hundreds of thousands of first responders on the frontline, fighting COVID-19 and helping patients suffering from this virus. Community members, including right here in Chicago, have also stepped up to serve others. We at Marquee Sports Network want to recognize all of these Hometown Heroes for their efforts.

Something different is happening in Chinatown where an essential business is giving back to other essential businesses and frontline workers. Truong Enterprises Inc., a wholesale grocer, is donating healthy foods and coconut water to hospitals, police and fire departments and other essential businesses.

We, like other people, were seeing and realizing that the city needed help. As part of the community, we felt that it was our responsibility to step up and help too,” Pat Tareelap, Truong Enterprises’ regional sales manager and team leader for COVID-19 donations, said.

Since March, the company has donated over 1,200 boxes of food and coconut water to frontline workers. Now, their focus is still on giving back, but more so to families who are struggling during these times.

Tareelap said, “Right now, we’ll keep on helping the community, but we’re focusing more on an organization that helps families that are having a tough time during this situation.”

At each donation, these essential workers have shown complete gratitude to Truong Enterprises Inc.

“They feel really thankful and grateful for our action of reaching out to them. They feel really appreciated that we feel grateful for what they are doing,” Tareelap said.

If you would like to make a donation to help continue these food donations or nominate an organization that needs help, you can head to their website.
