Christopher Morel delivers heartwarming gesture for group of young fans after Cubs game

Christopher Morel helped create a lifelong memory for a group of children from his native Dominican Republic.
After the Cubs’ 9-3 loss to Pittsburgh on Friday at Wrigley Field, a group of around 15 to 20 kids joined Morel on the playing surface of the Friendly Confines to take pictures and interact with Morel.

They were there through Go Baseball Program, a Christian-based group in the Dominican Republic that uses baseball and “empowers local leaders to make disciples through sports.” The team was out of Santiago, Dominican Republic, Morel’s hometown.
For many of the young athletes, it was their first time in the United States and in a major-league stadium.
Morel played with the head coach of the team, Oliver Báez, growing up. The team is in town for a tournament and were able to spend the day watching the Pirates take on the Cubs.
