Cubs 2022 schedule released by team, MLB
The Chicago Cubs and Major League Baseball released the tentative 2022 regular season schedule on Wednesday. The Cubs open the 2022 regular season against the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday, March 31. The team’s Wrigley Field debut takes place on April 4, 2022, against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Cubs are opening the season on the road for the first time since 2019 when they opened against the Rangers at Arlington Park. The last season in which the Cubs and Reds opened a season together was in 2007.
The highlights of the 2022 schedule are the interleague play against the American League East and a home-and-home against the crosstown White Sox. The first of the 2-game series will take place at the Friendly Confines from May 3-4. The next series takes place on May 28-29 from Guaranteed Rate Field.
The Chicago Cubs will host 3 A.L. East opponents in the 2022 season. The Red Sox haven’t played at Wrigley Field since 2012. The 3-game series against the Red Sox kicks off from July 1-3.
The Cubs will travel to Camden Yards to play the Orioles in a 2-game series on June 7-8; they’ll travel to Yankee Stadium for a 3-game series on June 10-12 to Rogers Centre for a 3-game series on August 29-31.
The Cubs will also host 3 holiday games in 2022; the first coming up in a Mother’s Day matinee against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Memorial Day against the Brewers, and Father’s Day vs. the Atlanta Braves. The Cubs travel to Milwaukee on the Fourth of July.
