Cubs 360 Daily: What possible additions can the Cubs make to the bullpen?
Taylor McGregor and Bruce Levine joined host Cole Wright on Cubs 360 Daily to discuss the possible free agent pickups the Cubs can get to add to their bullpen as they head into spring training.
McGregor wants to see the return of Jeremy Jeffress.
“He had a 1.54 ERA, which was the lowest amongst relievers with notable innings,” McGregor said. “His WHIP was actually lower than Yu Darvish’s last year. [He had] eight saves, which is twice as many as anyone else for the Cubs last year.”
Levine wants to see a new face added to the Cubs in Trevor Cahill.
“What you need in this time, especially coming off of 12 to 13 starts for all the pitchers last year in a truncated 60-game season, is a swing man: a guy that can start and also relieve,” Levine said. “Most teams are going to need six, seven, sometimes eight starting pitchers because nobody expects to go 150 or 160 innings this year…So a guy like Cahill…would be a very valuable guy to add.”
