Cubs announce 2025 Spring Training schedule
A sure-to-be memorable spring for the Cubs kicks off with what will become a familiar foe.
The Cubs announced their 2025 Spring Training schedule on Thursday — a slate that will feel very blue — Dodger blue to be specific.
The Cubs will open Cactus League play on February 20 at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Ariz. against the Dodgers — 3 days earlier than this year’s spring opener. The Cubs and Dodgers open their spring slate earlier this season due to the season-opening Japan Series in mid-March where they’ll take on Los Angeles in the Tokyo Dome.
They host the Dodgers on February 21 in their spring home opener at Sloan Park in Mesa, Ariz. The Cubs will play a 23-game Cactus League slate (25 exhibition games total) with 17 games at Sloan Park.
The Cubs’ last Cactus League contest before heading to Japan will be March 11 at home against Milwaukee. They’ll play a pair of yet-to-be-announced exhibition games in the Land of the Rising Sun before opening the 2025 season against the Dodgers at the Tokyo Dome on March 18 and 19.
They return to Cactus League play on March 21 to host the Padres. The Cubs will play Atlanta in a pair of exhibition games against the Atlanta Braves on March 24 and 25. Atlanta, who has Spring Training in Florida, opens the season in San Diego and will play the Cubs in warm-up games before their season starts. The Cubs played a similar set of games against St. Louis this spring.
There will be a pair of Crosstown Classics next spring — February 22 when the Cubs host the White Sox and Friday, March 7 when the Cubs travel to Glendale.
MLB returns their Spring Breakout games, which feature games with top prospects from all major-league teams. The Cubs’ prospects will play the Brewers in Maryvale on March 13 and host the Angels on March 15.
The Cubs resume the regular season on March 27 against the Diamondbacks in Arizona and host their home opener on April 4 against San Diego.
