DENVER — The Cubs announced the monthly minor league award winners for July on Wednesday afternoon.

Outfielder Brennen Davis was named the organization’s minor league player of the month and right-hander Ryan Jensen was awarded the minor league pitcher of the month.

Davis, 21, is widely considered the Cubs’ top prospect and took home MVP honors from the MLB Futures Game last month in Colorado.

He initially began 2021 with Class-A South Bend but only needed 8 games there before earning a promotion to Double-A Tennessee. Davis has adjusted well to the higher level, hitting .298/.410/.667 (1.077 OPS) in July with 7 homers, 10 doubles, 21 RBI and 18 runs scored in 24 games.

On the season, he is hitting .269 with an .897 OPS, 11 homers and 31 RBI across 56 minor league games.

Jensen, 23, was the Cubs’ 1st round pick in 2019. He had a 1.99 ERA and 0.71 WHIP in 5 starts in the month.

The right-hander struck out 28 batters in 22.2 innings and walked just 4 in July. He began the month by tossing 6 no-hit innings July 3 for Class-A South Bend.

Jensen is 2-7 with a 4.81 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 15 outings this season, sporting a 10.9 K/9 rate.
