Cubs bullpen coach Chris Young hospitalized during Thursday’s game
The Cubs and Pirates game was delayed for 6 minutes in the bottom of the 1st inning Thursday in Pittsburgh.
The reason was not initially known other than an issue in the Cubs bullpen. Trainers from both teams rushed out to the bullpen to provide assistance.
After the game, David Ross revealed Cubs bullpen coach Chris Young was feeling lightheaded.
Young was sent to the hospital to get checked out and all reports came out OK.
“You don’t know what’s going on down there in the bullpen,” Ross told reporters in Pittsburgh. “As a player, coach, it kinda stops everything. You see the worry on people’s faces and trying to gather information as well as there’s just a lot going on down there, too.
“The medical staff was on top of it. Appreciate the umpires’ patience. The Pirates were extremely patient, sent their medical staff, got him to the hospital, got him checked out and he’s gonna be alright.”
Young, 41, is in his third season on the Cubs coaching staff.
