Cubs homers not enough in simulated game against Phillies

5 years agoStaff Report

The wind was clearly blowing out at virtually Wrigley Field. The Cubs and Phillies combined for 7 home runs, but the Phillies edged out the Cubs 7-6 as our 2020 season simulation continues.

Yu Darvish struggled in the outing and things took a turn for the worse in the 5th, when he took a line drive to the face. Darvish exited the game with a broken cheekbone and was placed on the 15-day injured list.

Willson Contreras got the Cubs on the board with a solo shot in the first. Kris Bryant and Hernán Pérez added a pair of 2-run homers. Trialing 7-5 in the 8th, Kyle Schwarber made things interesting with a solo home run, but the Cubs couldn’t push across the winning run as they fell to 16-11 on the season.

The Cubs continue the simulated Sunday at 1 p.m. on our Facebook page
