Michael Busch was named the National League Player of the Week after a red-hot streatch.
The Cubs rookie first baseman was joined by Detroit Tigers starter Keider Montero as the MLB award winners.

Busch had a monster road trip, hitting .478/.480/1.087 with a 1.567 OPS in 6 games against the Dodgers in L.A. and Rockies in Colorado.
He hit 4 homers, drove in 11 runs and scored 7 times.
That included over 1,300 feet of homers at Coors Field over the weekend:
This is Busch’s first career win. The last time a Cubs player took home the NL Player of the Week award was Marcus Stroman in June of last year.
Busch is having a very solid rookie season and may get some down-ballot NL Rookie of the Year votes. On the year, he is hitting .257 with a .793 OPS, 20 homers and 63 RBI in 140 games. He has also been worth 2.6 fWAR, which is tied for 5th on the team.
“I think the consistency of what Michael has done this this season has really shown up,” Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Monday. “And it’s not surprising that he keeps coming back [after slumps]. There’s good stretches to come. For everybody it’s helpful, but as a young player, first year in the league, continuing to finish on a good note and playing well at the end of the year I think is really important.”
Counsell sees room for more upside from the 26-year-old in the power department.
“He’s a good hitter,” Counsell said. “He hits the ball hard a lot and is certainly strong enough to hit a bunch of home runs. Some of hitting home runs also is just like learning how to hit home runs in terms of the old adage that the pitcher kind of throws them – that that you get pitches you can do damage with and then those are the pitches you take advantage of.
“Absolutely, Michael has the ceiling to just drive the baseball like. Whether that’s going to be more doubles or more homers, I think it can be more extra base hits, for sure.”
