Cubs’ Pete Crow-Armstrong continues to create chaos for opposing teams

3 weeks agoAndy Martinez

Pete Crow-Armstrong’s offense is becoming must-see TV.

And it’s not just because his swing changes have produced better and harder contact and more results.

It’s because he can seemingly create chaos anytime he’s at the plate or on the bases — Sunday was a prime example.

In the 3rd inning, trailing by a run, Crow-Armstrong led the frame off with a base hit. His mere presence at first clearly bothered Nationals’ starter Mitchell Parker. With Miguel Amaya at the plate, Parker tried to pick him off at first, but his throw went wide of his first baseman, Juan Yepez, hitting the bottom of Crow-Armstrong’s foot and skipping into foul territory behind first base.

Crow-Armstrong got up and sprinted around to third base. He scored two batters later on a single from Ian Happ to tie the game. The Cubs would score 2 more runs in the frame.

An inning later, after Nico Hoerner’s leadoff single, Crow-Armstrong squared around for a bunt and laid it down the third-base foul line. José Tena quickly fielded the ball and rifled it past Yepez at first. That allowed Hoerner to score from first and Crow-Armstrong to reach third base.
