Cubs’ Shota Imanaga continues to show why he’s a fan favorite
The rare trip to Kansas City is special for Cubs pitching coach Tommy Hottovy — and he makes sure to make the most of it.
Hottovy, a Kansas Citian, grew up cheering on the hometown Royals, watching the great teams of the 1980s, led by George Brett.
His family lives in the City of Fountains, so Hottovy used the opportunity to bring his son, Cameron to Kauffman Stadium. Like his dad, Cameron pitches, so the Cubs pitching coach carved out some time to allow him to throw a bullpen session at the major league stadium.
If that wasn’t enough of a memorable experience, Cubs pitcher Shota Imanaga made it unforgettable.
The lefty stood in the batter’s box for Cameron’s bullpen session and on a slider down and away, Imanaga swung and missed with an imaginary bat to the delight of everyone watching.
