Cubs to unveil Fergie Jenkins statue on May 20
Cubs’ fans will soon be able to get a look at the brand-new Fergie Jenkins statue at Wrigley Field.
On Wednesday morning’s episode of Cubs Live! the team announced they would be unveiling the statue on May 20. It will be in Gallagher Way in an area that will be dubbed “Statue Row”. More details about the unveiling will be announced closer to the date.
Along with the Jenkins statue, the space will feature the statues of Ernie Banks, Billy Williams and Ron Santo.
Elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991, Jenkins won the 1971 Cy Young Award with a 24-13 record and a 2.77 ERA in 325 innings. Jenkins won 167 games as a Cub and pitched 154 complete games for the team. He finished his career with 284 wins, a 3.34 ERA and was named to the All-Star Game three times in his career.
