Cubs unveil 2025 schedule, headlined by Tokyo series

10 months agoTony Andracki

For the second time in three years, the Cubs will be playing a series overseas.

Confirming what has been on the rumor mill for a while, the Cubs announced on Thursday afternoon that the team will begin the 2025 campaign in Tokyo with a 2-game set against the Dodgers on March 18-19.

The team unveiled its entire schedule as part of Thursday’s announcement.

After the Tokyo series, the Cubs return stateside and will finish up Spring Training and then stay on the West Coast for a 7-game road trip – first against the Diamondbacks in Arizona and then against the Athletics.

The Cubs’ home opener is Friday, April 4 against San Diego, followed by a series against the Rangers at home.

The Cubs have another West Coast trip in April, taking on the Dodgers and Padres from April 11-16. They finish up with the Dodgers for the season on April 22-23 with a 2-game series at Wrigley Field.

The March/April schedule is a grind between the overseas travel and a pair of West Coast trips, plus a lot of games against teams that figure to be contenders (Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Rangers, Padres, Phillies).

The first Crosstown series is May 16-18 at Wrigley Field and then Cubs then head to the South Side in late-July for 3 games (July 25-27).

The Cubs finish up the regular season at Wrigley Field for the second straight year, this time with a 6-game homestand against the Mets and Cardinals Sept. 23-28.

Here is the complete schedule:
