The Cubs released their minor league coaching staffs and coordinators for the 2024 season Monday afternoon.

Among the highlights are a couple of notable names in new positions.

Nick Lovullo is in his first season as manager in South Bend, the Cubs’ Advanced Class-A affiliate. Lovullo is the son of Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo and spent last season as the manager of the Mesa Cubs in the Arizona Complex League and also held the position as bench coach for Double-A Tennessee in 2022.

Corey Ray is the new manager of the Arizona Complex League Mesa Cubs, replacing Lovullo. Ray was the Milwaukee Brewers’ 1st-roud pick in 2016 (5th overall) and ranked as the No. 30 prospect in baseball by MLB.com prior to the 2017 season. He reached the Brewers’ Triple-A affiliate in 2019, 2021 and 2022 and played in just 1 game in the majors in 2021. The 29-year-old is a Chicago native and attended Simeon High School. This is his 2nd year coaching after serving as the bench coach for the Cubs’ Class-A affiliate in Myrtle Beach in 2023.

Lance Rymel also saw a jump up the system, taking over manager of Double-A Tennessee after managing South Bend for the last 2 seasons, including a 2022 Midwest League championship.

Marty Pevey returns to manage the Triple-A Iowa Cubs for the 12th straight year while Buddy Bailey reclaims his role as the manager of Myrtle Beach. Carlos Ramírez enters his 6th year and Enrique Wilson enters his 3rd year as the managers of the Cubs Dominican Summer League teams.

Rachel Folden – hitting coordinator
Steven Pollakov – hitting coordinator
Greg Brown – hitting coordinator/special assistant to GM/president
Desi Wilson – position player rehab/development list coordinator
Blaine Kinsley – director of strength and conditioning and performance nutrition
James Edwards – medical coordinator
Sean Folan – assistant medical coordinator
Dallas Lopez – Arizona Complex League strength and conditioning coordinator
Dr. Samantha Kurkjian – Team Sport Psychologist
Javier Guerrero – mental skills coordinator

Brown was the Cubs’ major league hitting coach during the 2022 season. This is his first year in the new role.
