Glanville: Theo Epstein’s ‘courageous’ actions, words a critical next step for equality in MLB
Doug Glanville provided his thoughts on Cubs president Theo Epstein’s comments on race in the world of baseball last month during his appearance on Thursday’s edition of “The Stadium” on Marquee Sports Network. Glanville shared with host Michael Kim why he supports what Epstein is doing and its importance, not just for the Cubs, but for baseball as a whole.
“I applaud Theo Epstein. He’s been very courageous in stepping out and taking ownership,” Glanville said. “This is a big step for Major League baseball that they have to take, and that is to say, acknowledgement.
“Baseball and many sports have an opportunity now, because they do set the tone of teamwork that transcends identity. They do set the tone of equity and equality, because the rules apply to everyone. Those are great examples for our society. I see baseball and Theo Epstein and that type of leadership being very much critical in how we move forward.”
