12-year MLB veteran and current MLB Network analyst Harold Reynolds joins Ryan Dempster on Off The Mound presented by Sloan tonight at 9 p.m on Marquee Sports Network.

Each week this month, Dempster will be celebrating Black history, welcoming in a series of distinguished former MLB players and coaches to discuss their experiences in the game and the legends that preceded them. Following Reynolds, Dempster welcomes in the second Black manager to ever win a World Series, Dave Roberts, on February 12; Hall of Famer and former Cub Andre Dawson on February 19; and current Cub outfielder Jason Heyward on February 26.

This week, Reynolds and Dempster share stories about the incredible influence of African American players in MLB and Cubs history, including tales of Ernie Banks, Buck O’Neil, Ken Griffey Jr. and Hank Aaron.

Reynolds, whose father was a bat boy for Negro League games on the south side of Chicago, discusses the significance of Major League Baseball officially recognizing the stats of the Negro Leagues as part of MLB history and the legend of “Cool Papa” Bell.
