‘I wonder how they put the ice in’: Cubs relief pitchers mic’d up for Blackhawks game is pure gold

With nearly the entire roster in town for Cubs Convention, it was a perfect opportunity for some of the players to take in all that Chicago has to offer.

That includes a Blackhawks game.

Cubs relievers Luke Little and Porter Hodge got front row seats to the Blackhawks game Saturday night at the United Center and were mic’d up for the experience.

The 2-minute video released by the Blackhawks is pure gold:

Some of the best one-liners include:

β€””Just two big bodies up in the front.” (Little is 6-foot-8 and listed at 220 pounds while Hodge is 6-foot-4, 230 pounds.)

β€””Come on, Connor! He’s the only one I know,” Little said, referring to Blackhawks star Connor Bedard.

β€””Dude, they just move so fast. Like, I would be so dysfunctional on it,” Hodge opined.

“Even the refs,” Little responded. “They’re gliding on it.”

β€””I wonder how they put the ice in,” Little wondered aloud. “Is it just, like, water? They just, like, pour water on the whole thing?”

And at one point, they had a classic conversation every casual fan has ever had with hockey.

“What happened?” Little asked

“It’s so hard to understand the rules of it,” Hodge responded.

Little: “A lot of fouls, I think.”

Hodge: “Especially the icing and stuff.”
