4 years agoStaff Report

The virtual Cubs used a 7-run 3rd inning to complete a sweep over the Pirates with an 8-2 win. The Cubs improved to 28-23 on the year and sit in second place in the NL Central, 7 games back of the Reds.

Already up 4-0 in the 3rd, Ian Happ hit a grand slam to push the Cubs lead to 8-0. Kyle Hendricks pitched a solid game, allowing 5 hits and 2 runs in 7 innings. Alec Mills pitched the final 2 innings, striking out 2 and allowing just a hit and a walk.

The Cubs wrap up their virtual road trip with a three-game set in Milwaukee. Yu Darvish takes the bump in the opener on our Facebook, at 1 p.m.
