Ian Miller remembers his first day at Sloan Park
Cubs minor leaguer Ian Miller joined Elise Menaker on Cubs 360 Daily to talk about his progress during the shelter-at-home order and how he approaches the game.
Miller had a stellar performance in spring training before the shutdown in March. He led the team in stolen bases and was 2nd in runs. Miller takes pride in that growing speed when he’s on base.
“I just try to advance any way possible. I try to score anyway possible, whether it’s a ball in the dirt or maybe an error. The game within the game. It keeps it fun. It keeps it light.”
This was Miller’s first time with the Cubs organization, and he remembers that first day walking into Sloan Park very well.
“It was definitely nerve-wracking. I was extremely nervous, because you see all these guys on TV. It’s a bunch of stars. They’re Chicago Cubs players…I was definitely intimidated, but as soon as I got in there, everybody was just so nice and comforting.”
