Kris Bryant partners with adidas to surprise suburban Little League team
The start of May should have signaled the heart of Little League baseball season.
Like most other sports or organizations, though, Little Leaguers across the country have had their season curtailed with the COVID-19 pandemic. It can be a tough time for young baseball players – instead of hitting home runs and fielding grounders with friends, they’re left at home without the joys of playing America’s past time.
That’s where Cubs superstar Kris Bryant and adidas stepped in.
Bryant and adidas surprised a Bartlett Little League team via video conference call to chat with the players and at the end of the call Bryant let the kids know they’d be receiving new adidas cleats.

We teamed up with @LittleLeague to set up a video chat with the kids’ hometown hero. They talked about tips, tricks and how they are staying active while being part of the #hometeam pic.twitter.com/jACTnwyovM
“You guys will be looking nice and fresh out there,” Bryant told the Little Leaguers. “Enjoy it. Have fun with your families and maybe I’ll see you at Wrigley soon.”
Bryant fielded questions from the youngsters – including one whose middle name is Anthony and last name is Rizzo, just like Bryant’s best friend on the Cubs.
“Oh my gosh, I’ll have to let him know,” Bryant told the youngster.
