Kyle Tucker lauds Cubs for ‘pretty easy transition’ after Astros trade

2 weeks agoKyle Millinowisch

Kyle Tucker has spent each spring training in Florida as a member of the Houston Astros organization after being selected 5th overall in the 2015 MLB Draft.

After being acquired by the Cubs in December, Tucker is getting acclimated to his first Arizona spring training — and is loving where he’s at.

In an interview with MLB Network, Tucker discussed what it has been like since he’s been traded:

“Like I said, you know, pretty much right when I got traded over here, I don’t think I could have gone to a much better organization than the Cubs,” Tucker told former Cub Mark DeRosa of MLB Network, “I mean, the fanbase here is second to none. The teammates and front office, coaching staff, everyone that I’ve talked to and met so far have been amazing.”

“It’s kind of been a pretty easy transition just to feel comfortable and everything out here. So, I’m excited to finish up spring training, finish it healthy, get to Japan and start the season.”

The 28-year-old, three-time All-Star was the Cubs’ biggest offseason acquisition. He’s not letting the high expectations for this year add extra pressure.

“I get it, but I don’t necessarily take it that way,” Tucker told DeRosa, “It’s more of a team sport. I just do my part to try and help out everyone in the clubhouse, and I do my best out on the field … on the bases, in the box. Whatever I can just to help our team score some runs, prevent runs and try to win games.”

Tucker is entering his final season before becoming a free agent. In 2024, he blasted 23 home runs in just 78 games while posting a 4.7 fWAR. Cubs manager Craig Counsell believes 2025 could be Tucker’s best season.
