Cubs’ Kyle Tucker named NL Player of Week after three-homer stretch
Every king needs his crown. King Tuck just earned his first as a Chicago Cub.
Kyle Tucker was named the National League Player of the Week, Major League Baseball announced Monday, after a monster week for the right-handed slugger.
Tucker slashed .391/.548/.913 with three homers, eight RBI, eight walks, 11 runs scored and two stolen bases in six games as the Cubs went 5-1 on the week. Tucker reached base in every game, and now has reached base safely in his last 11 contests.
Tucker entered Monday leading the NL in runs, slugging, on-base percentage and OPS, and ranked second in batting average and total bases — a sizzling start to the 2025 campaign for the Cubs’ big offseason acquisition.
“I think a lot of it stems from our whole lineup, everyone has been putting together good at-bats,” Tucker said to the media before Monday’s game. “I just try to have good at-bats and keep it rolling for the rest of us.”
Tucker is the first Cubs player to earn NL Player of the Week honors since Michael Busch did it on Sept. 16 last season, and the first Cubs outfielder to win the award since Seiya Suzuki in April 2022.

Alex Bregman, Tucker’s former Houston Astros teammate, was named AL Player of the Week, and Cubs catcher Carson Kelly and second baseman Nico Hoerner were listed under the “other noteworthy NL performances” section.
Kelly hit for the cycle last Monday in Sacramento and finished with a .500 batting average, two HRs and 10 RBI on the week. Hoerner hit .417 with five RBI, six runs scored and six bags swiped.
Tucker, Hoerner and Kelly return to action Monday night against the Texas Rangers at Wrigley Field, and fans can watch all the action on Marquee Sports Network or the Marquee Sports Network app.
