CHICAGO – Marquee Sports Network has received 12 nominations for the 2021-22 Chicago/Midwest Regional Emmy® Awards, including nominations spotlighting Marquee’s studio production, game broadcasts, documentaries, on-air talent and more. Award recipients will be announced in early December.

Marquee Sports Network has now received 24 total Chicago/Midwest regional Emmy nominations since launching in February of 2020.

“We are proud to receive these nominations recognizing all of the hard work from our staff, including studio and game production, on-air talent, engineering and marketing,” said Marquee Sports Network General Manager, Mike McCarthy. “While there are many individuals cited in these Emmy nominations, and deservedly so, they are all a result of supreme team efforts across our organization. Mike Santini leading production with Nick Steger and Maleek Ndile, Deb Schneider leading engineering, Alli Bertucci on programming, Robin Mulvaney on finance, among many others, are all well-deserving of this recognition. Congratulations as well to the Cubs Productions team led by Matt Romito on their well-deserved nominations and we look forward to continuing to showcase their work on Marquee.”

Marquee’s studio production earned five nominations, led by the nomination of Marquee’s pregame studio show, Cubs Live!, in the category of outstanding achievement for a live sports single program/series. Marquee also received a nomination for a one-time sports special for its live 2021 Cubs Live! Trade Deadline coverage.

Additionally, studio host Cole Wright earned a nomination for outstanding crafts achievement for a sports anchor, Lance Brozdowski received a nomination for outstanding crafts achievement for a sports editor, recognizing his work with Cubs Live! breakdowns, and Joe Grochocki and Brandon Fishman were both nominated in a composite for their work with motion graphics and art direction.

Marquee’s game broadcasts earned two nominations, including outstanding achievement for a live sporting event and outstanding sports play-by-play broadcaster. For live sporting event, Marquee’s broadcast on May 17 of this season vs. the Pirates earned recognition, highlighted by the memorable debut and home run from Christopher Morel. The home run was called by play-by-play broadcaster Jon “Boog” Sciambi, who earned a nomination for outstanding crafts achievement for a sports analyst/play-by-play broadcaster.

Marquee received two of the three nominations for outstanding achievement for a sports documentary, recognizing the network’s hour-long features on Billy Williams (Billy Williams: The Sweet Swinger) and Ferguson Jenkins (Glory and Grief: The Ferguson Jenkins Story) produced in partnership with MLB Network.

Two of Marquee’s non-game programs also earned nominations for outstanding achievement. Class is in Session with Doug Glanville, the winner of last year’s award for outstanding achievement for sports interview/discussion, was again nominated in the same category. Let’s Play Two!, Marquee Sports Network’s weekly Cubs recap show, earned a nomination for outstanding achievement for a post-produced or edited sports program.

Finally, Marquee Sports Network earned a nomination for outstanding achievement for a sports promotional campaign for its “We Get All of It” series of on-air promos produced in partnership with the Quality Meats agency.
