CHICAGO – Marquee Sports Network last night received 13 nominations for the 2022-23 Chicago/Midwest Regional Emmy® Awards, including nominations spotlighting Marquee’s game broadcasts, minor league coverage, documentaries, on-air talent and more. Award recipients will be announced in mid-November.
Marquee Sports Network has now received 37 total Chicago/Midwest regional Emmy nominations since launching in February of 2020. This year’s 13 nominations marked a network-high, following 12 nominations in 2022 and 2021.
“We’re honored to receive these nominations recognizing the dedicated, passionate and creative work of everyone at the network, including our terrific on-air talent, studio and truck crews, and production and engineering departments, all of whom played important roles in getting these programs on the air. Congratulations as well to our partners at Cubs Productions on a number of well-deserved nominations. Of course, none of this happens without the unique access we get from the Cubs, and we are grateful for that as we continue to work together to bring extensive Cubs coverage to fans,” said Marquee Sports Network General Manager, Mike McCarthy.
Marquee Sports Network’s nominations this year were highlighted by six nominations surrounding its live Cubs game coverage, including a nomination for Outstanding Live Sporting Event, recognizing the network’s broadcast of the Cubs’ thrilling come-from-behind victory over the Seattle Mariners on April 11, 2023. Additionally, Cliff Floyd, Joe Girardi, Elise Menaker, Jon “Boog” Sciambi and Cole Wright earned nominations for Outstanding On-Camera Talent.
Marquee’s live minor league coverage also received a nomination as Road to Wrigley was tabbed for Outstanding Live Sports Program, recognizing the show’s whiparound coverage of the entire Cubs minor league system.
Additional original programs and documentaries received nominations, including Cubs Flicks (Outstanding Edited Sports Program), The Remarkable Life of Ron Santo (Outstanding Sports Documentary), Class is in Session (Outstanding Sports Interview/Discussion) and Brick by Brick: The Story of Wrigley Field (Outstanding Historical Documentary). Marquee’s Jon Roemer received a nomination for Outstanding Sports Editor.
Finally, Marquee Sports Network earned a nomination for Outstanding Achievement for a Sports Promotional Campaign for its “We Get All of It” series of on-air promos produced in partnership with the Quality Meats agency.
Since 2021, the network has received six Emmy awards, including for Cubs Live!
