Michael Busch just tied a Cubs franchise record
Michael Busch is having quite the rookie campaign.
In his debut season with the Cubs, Busch has been one of the most productive hitters in the lineup.
That includes this West Coast road trip, where he just tied a Cubs franchise record with a home run in 5 straight games.

His blast in the 2nd inning off Arizona’s Merrill Kelly tied Busch with 4 other Cubs players who homered in 5 straight games — Christopher Morel (2023), Sammy Sosa (1998), Ryne Sandberg (1989) and Hack Wilson (1928).

It was Busch’s 6th homer on the season through the team’s 16th game, putting him on pace for 61 dingers in 2024.
It helped lift the Cubs to a wild 3-2 victory over the Diamondbacks in 11 innings.
The Cubs acquired Busch in a trade with the Dodgers in January and immediately tabbed the rookie slugger as the team’s new first baseman. He has repaid that confidence with a stellar start to the season that includes a .340/.404/.760 slash line (1.164 OPS).
If he homers in Tuesday night’s game in Arizona, it will set a new Cubs record.
