New Cub Narciso Crook has the most wholesome approach to signing autographs
Are you ready for a heartwarming story?
Narciso Crook — the newest member of the Cubs — has a simple policy when he signs autographs.
He asks that for each autograph he signs, that person goes out and responds with one good deed.
“I give them a 2-week timespan so they’re in a rush to do it because if I see them again, they gotta do it again,” Crook said. “For every autograph, that’s a good deed.”
Crook devised the idea in Spring Training this season — his first year with the Cubs.
“I feel like we have a great platform here as athletes,” Crook said. “We need more people to make this world a better place. … I just thought about it — what can I do to maybe help a little bit in our society and make this world a better place?”
Crook spent the first three months of the 2022 season with the Triple-A Cubs in Des Moines, Iowa.
He said some fans will reach out to him and let them know what their good deed was — helping a random stranger, delivering in the community, providing assistance for a school.
“That’s pretty cool,” Crook said. “The more you have little kids and adults out there doing good deeds and loving the game and brining them back to the ballpark. Like, ‘hey, I remember that guy, I have his autograph. I want to do another good deed and I want to go to another game.’
“The more of that that we have, the better off we are.”
