Throughout 2021, we’re taking a look back at some of the best moments from the incredible 2016 campaign.
Next up: Cubs win 10th straight game
After his request for time-out was denied, Chris Coghlan rushed to get ready and smacked a game-tying, 2-out, 2-run single. Tack it on to the many occurrences that went the Cubs way in 2016.
With runners on 1st and 3rd, David Ross surprised everyone with a bunt single, giving the Cubs the lead.
After the Cardinals tied the game in the top of the 7th, the bullpens took over, keeping the score locked at 3 until the 11th.
Willson Contreras and Jorge Soler singled, Dexter Fowler walked and Anthony Rizzo had a chance to end it.
Cardinals’ pitcher Zach Duke just missed the inside corner according to umpire Ron Kulpa, and the Cubs won their 10th straight game.

– The Cubs’ 9-0 start in August was their best since the 1908 season
– Jon Lester went 6 innings, allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts, throwing his 18th quality start in 23 tries
