3 years agoKyle Millinowisch

Five years ago, the Cubs embarked on a historic journey that will go down as one of the most impactful seasons in professional sports.

Throughout 2021, we’re taking a look back at some of the best moments from the incredible 2016 campaign.

Next up: Kris Bryant’s Full-House Game

Kris Bryant loves hitting against the Cincinnati Reds, and loves hitting at Great American Ballpark.

Bryant had arguably the best regular season game of his career that night, hitting 3 home runs and 2 doubles, going a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate.

He became the first Cub ever to ever accomplish the feat, and the first player since 1913 to hit 3 home runs and 2 doubles in the same game.

Bryant’s 4 runs scored, 5 hits and 6 RBI would lead the Cubs to an 11-8 win over the Reds.

Fun Facts

–   This was Bryant’s 2nd multi-HR game and 2nd 6-RBI game of 2016, both coming against the Reds in their home ballpark (Jake Arrieta started each)

–   The Cubs tied a season-high by hitting 5 home runs, which they did 4 times in 2016

–   Jake Arrieta (2) and Anthony Rizzo (18) also hit home runs in this game

–   With the win, the Cubs improved their record to 49-26. This was the best 75 game start to a season since the 1918 Cubs started 51-23-1
