Patrick Wisdom has been on an absolute tear for the Cubs

Cubs fans are well aware of Patrick Wisdom’s hot streaks at the plate.

Shortly after being promoted to the majors last season, Wisdom hit 7 homers in an 8-start stretch from May 31-June 8.

But he might be on another level right now for the Cubs.

Wisdom crushed a 3-run shot in the top of the 4th inning Monday night in Cincinnati, helping to lead the Cubs to a 7-4 win.

It marked his 4th straight game with a longball, becoming the first Cub to accomplish that feat since Anthony Rizzo did so in July and August of 2015:

Only 3 Cubs have ever hit a homer in 5 straight games:

The 393-foot blast to right-center was Wisdom’s team-leading 10th homer of the season and puts him on pace for 40 dingers in 2022. He leads the Cubs with 23 RBI this season.

“It’s been awesome,” Ian Happ told Taylor McGregor after Monday night’s game. “His adjustments throughout the season have been really cool to watch and him getting some pitches to handle and not missing them. He’s had really good at-bats, even the ones that weren’t homers or doubles. The at-bats where he’s getting to 3-2, working a couple walks, getting deep in counts and then obviously putting a couple good swings and giving us a chance.”

The 30-year-old third baseman also came up clutch in Sunday’s win, smacking the game-tying homer in the 8th inning.

“The more you get moments where Patrick Wisdom steps up in the bottom of the 8th, down 1 and hits a game-tying home run and then Frank Schwindel follows it up with a game-leading home run and you lock down those wins,” David Ross said pregame. “That kinda stuff can carry for the next day and that can carry into the next day and then all of a sudden, you win a lot of games and narratives can change really fast.”

It has been almost exactly a calendar year since the Cubs called up Wisdom from Triple-A and he has 38 homers in that span (468 at-bats).
