Pete Crow-Armstrong put on an absolute clinic in center field in Los Angeles
Coming up through the farm system, much of the talk surrounding Pete Crow-Armstrong was on his elite defensive ability.
We’ve seen flashes of it throughout his brief big-league tenure but none more so than Tuesday night in Los Angeles.
Crow-Armstrong made 3 incredible catches during the Cubs’ 6-3 win over the Dodgers, including robbing a home run to end the game:
It took a 2-run homer away from Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy (who had already homered in the contest).

Crow-Armstrong very nearly robbed a home run earlier in the game off the bat of Tommy Edman but came up just short.
The Cubs’ rookie center fielder ended up with highlight-reel plays in each of the 7th, 8th and 9th innings.

In the 7th, he took extra bases and a run away from the Dodgers with a nifty sliding catch. It was a ball that had only a 5% catch probability.
In the 8th, Shohei Ohtani sent one to the wall in right-center. Both Crow-Armstrong and Cody Bellinger closed in on the ball but hesitated after a miscommunication.

Crow-Armstrong took charge at the last second, pulling off a wacky-looking – but effective – catch just before the ball hit the ground:
Crow-Armstrong’s defensive heroics gave the Cubs their 3rd straight win as they improved to 75-70 on the season and 4 games out of the final Wild-Card spot in the National League.
This is the first time the Cubs have won a series at Dodger Stadium in back-to-back season since 2005-06.
