Raised at Clark & Addison: A story of fatherhood, baseball and three generations of Cubs fans
There’s one constant in the Hanson family: the Cubs.
A family rooted in its love of America’s pastime and Chicago’s beloved team, the eldest Hanson, Breck passed on his love of the Cubs to his son, Blake, taking him to his first Cubs playoff game on October 2, 1984, a 13-0 Cubs win in Game 1 of the NLCS. Thirty-six years later to the day, Blake took his son, Silas to his first Cubs playoff game, a 2-0 Cubs loss in Game 2 of the National League Wild Card.
Through thick and thin, the Hansons have always had the Cubs with them.
“We did have tough times,” Breck said. “One of the movies said, we could always talk baseball and we still do.
“What’s been fun, almost to a fault, is his 6-year-old son can talk baseball with any of us.”
