Yu Darvish has roughly 11 pitches in his arsenal and his latest pitch is called “The Supreme.” On Cubs 360 Summer Camp, Jim Deshaies thinks of a pizza when he hears supreme and Cubs manager David Ross thinks of a taco with sour cream. 

When it comes to the latest pitch from Darvish, Ross knows that Darvish can do special things with a baseball.

“Because of the mix he can do and how he can manipulate each individual pitch, he really wants to know what he’s doing with each individual pitch and where he wants it and what quadrant, how far he wants it in..” Ross said. 

Ross broke down how Darvish can exploit hitters’ weaknesses with the amount of pitches at his disposal. 

“He can just really manipulate the baseball. That’s really rewarding when you have a guy that can have experience and do what the scouting report says. That’s why he feels like he has so many weapons,” Ross said.
