Seiya Suzuki had the most wholesome reaction to Patrick Wisdom’s game-sealing homer

2 years agoTony Andracki

Seiya Suzuki is not only the Cubs’ best hitter this season, but he also might be their biggest fan.

Patrick Wisdom obliterated a 2-run homer in the top of the 10th inning, finishing off a 3-run frame that powered the Cubs to a 6-3 victory Wednesday night in Atlanta.

Suzuki’s reaction in the Cubs dugout was priceless:

Wisdom loved Suzuki’s reaction.

“Oh, it’s great. It’s awesome,” Wisdom told Marquee Sports Network’s Taylor McGregor on the field after the game. “He’s the best. Everything he does is just funny. I love playing with him.”

The rookie outfielder did his part on the field to help his team win the game, too.

Suzuki went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. He also saw a whopping 36 pitches in his 5 at-bats, singlehandedly wearing down the Braves pitching staff. He is now slashing .333/.458/.632 on the season.

For Wisdom, it was his 3rd homer of the year and his 12th and 13th runs driven in. He trails only Suzuki (14) for the team lead in RBI so far in 2022.

The Cubs held a lead for most of the game before the Braves rallied with 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game.

In extras, Willson Contreras quickly got the Cubs on the board with an RBI double to drive home the free runner (Ian Happ) from second base. After a Frank Schwindel strikeout, Wisdom gave the Cubs some much-needed breathing room.
