The Cubs just accomplished something no other team in MLB history has ever pulled off
Thursday night at Wrigley Field delivered a moment unlike any other in baseball history.
The Cubs pulled off a thrilling comeback in the 9th inning against the Cardinals, scoring 3 runs to secure a 5-4 victory.
All 3 runs came against closer Ryan Helsley, who was an All-Star this season and had converted a league-leading 33-of-35 saves coming into the evening.
The Cubs entered the bottom of the 9th inning trailing 4-2.
After a popout by Seiya Suzuki, Cody Bellinger smacked a 1-2 pitch into the bleachers in left-center for a solo home run.

That was the start of the comeback, as Dansby Swanson delivered a 2-strike RBI double to tie the game and then Mike Tauchman followed with his own 2-strike RBI double to send the Cubs home winners.
It was the first time in recorded baseball history that a team tallied 3 separate 2-strike RBI extra-base hits in the bottom of the 9th inning in a win.
And what’s more: Helsley had not allowed a 2-strike extra-base hit all year prior to Thursday.
What an incredible stat.
And what an incredible night for the Cubs.
