The injury woes keep coming for Cubs
[UPDATE: As injury bug continues, Cubs pressed into making more roster moves]
The Cubs can’t catch a break when it comes to injuries.
On the same day that Christopher Morel left the game following a collision with outfielder Alexander Canario, the Cubs also announced that Sunday’s starting pitcher — Jordan Wicks — was scratched due to left forearm tightness. (Craig Counsell said Morel is “fine” after Saturday’s game.)
Hayden Wesneski will take the ball in Wicks’ place as the Cubs look for a series victory over the Red Sox in Boston:
#Cubs Jordan Wicks will not start tomorrow. He’s dealing with left forearm tightness. RHP Hayden Wesneski will start in his place.

Wick is coming off his best start of the season, in which he went 6 innings and permitted only 2 runs against the Astros. It was his first win and first quality start of the season and it was also his first outing in which he did not walk a batter.
The 24-year-old southpaw has a 4.70 ERA and 1.52 WHIP on the season with 28 strikeouts in 23 innings.
Wicks is tied for the team lead in strikeouts and only Shota Imanaga and Javier Assad have pitched more innings.
Wicks joins an ever-growing list of injured Cubs players, though it is not yet known if he will require a stay on the IL.
The Cubs are currently without starting pitchers Justin Steele and Kyle Hendricks as well as relievers Drew Smyly and Julian Merryweather. Cody Bellinger and Seiya Suzuki are also on the IL.
The Cubs enter play Sunday 17-10 on the season.
