The latest on one of the Cubs’ top prospects

One of the Cubs top prospects has been out of action for over two weeks.
That could change this week.
Kevin Alcántara, the Cubs no. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline and the no. 51 overall prospect in the game has been sidelined since June 7 with a left shoulder injury, but the hope is for him to be back with Tennessee Tuesday when they open a 6-game set in Birmingham, Ala. against the Barons.
Alcántara suffered the injury and the Cubs shut him down for a few days. During his ramp up, he felt it again, so the Cubs shut him down again to play it safe. The injury came when Alcántara was just beginning to heat up.
Over his previous 18 games, the 6-foot, 6-inch outfielder was hitting .315 with a home run, 6 doubles, 11 RBI and a 135 weighted runs-created plus. On the season, Alcántara is hitting .261 with a .693 OPS with 5 home runs and a 106 wRC+.
He had an .807 OPS, 12 home runs and a 124 wRC+ in 95 games with High-A South Bend last season before a promotion to Tennessee late in the year.
